The Safety Net: Liability Insurance for Mental Health Clinicians
Learn what your insurance actually covers—and what it doesn't—so you can protect your license, your practice, and your peace of mind.
Taught by a mental health clinician and former insurance agent.
Course Overview
As a mental health clinician, you work hard to care for others. This vodcast style course helps you care for your practice, too. Gain a clear understanding of liability insurance, learn how to interpret your coverage, and discover how to ensure you’re protected when it matters most.
Course Description: Learn about liability insurance from an insurance agent turned mental health clinician. There is a difference between an ethical violation and a malpractice claim. However, as mental health clinicians we have potential exposure to both at the same time. Do you have enough coverage for the wide variety of potential claims you could experience? Are you prepared to defend your license? What do the different types of liability coverages (e.g., general, professional, cyber) mean? Who needs to have which type(s) of liability coverage?
Learning Objectives:
- Explain at least five statistics related to the Counselor Professional Liability Exposure Claim Report: 3rd Edition
- Compare and contrast around four types of liability for mental health clinicians
- Understand about seven key terms related to liability insurance for mental health clinicians
