Navigating Suicide in the Disability Community: Key Insights for Disabled Individuals and Caregivers
1 NBCC CE Hours
Disabled individuals can be at increased risk for suicide, including thoughts of suicide, suicide plans, and suicide attempts. While many suicide prevention and intervention approaches have been created, there is a need for them to be adjusted to meet the unique needs of disabled individuals. The more accessible approaches are for disabled individuals, the more accessible they will be for everyone. This training will discuss statistics, risk factors, and most importantly protective factors for the disabled community. Additionally, concerns specific to caregivers will be addressed as they are a key protective factor.
