Neurodivergence in Supervision

Build a supervision practice that works for neurodivergent supervisees, supports supervisees working with neurodivergent clients, and meets the needs of neurodivergent supervisors.

---COURSE OVERVIEW---

Course Overview

Neurodivergence shows up in the supervisory relationship in multiple directions at once—with supervisees, with their clients, and with supervisors themselves. This course explores all three. You'll leave with concrete, affirming strategies for making supervision accessible to neurodivergent supervisees, practical guidance for supporting supervisees who work with neurodivergent clients, and tools for meeting your own needs as a neurodivergent supervisor.

Course Description:
The three relationships in supervision include the supervisor-supervisee, the supervisee-client, and the supervisor-client. Neurodivergence is likely to show up in at least two of these relationships. How prepared are you to support a neurodivergent supervisee? Do you have the appropriate level of training and experience to provide guidance for the variety of ways neurodivergence could be present with clients? If you are a neurodivergent supervisor, what needs do you have? This training will cover how to make supervision accessible for neurodivergent supervisees, how to support supervisees with neurodivergent clients, and how to make supervision successful for neurodivergent supervisors.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply at least five approaches to make supervision accessible for neurodivergent supervisees.
  • Identify about four supportive actions to take when supervisees have neurodivergent clients.
  • Utilize around three methods of meeting the needs of neurodivergent supervisors.
