When the Evaluator is Evaluated

You evaluate your supervisees — but are you building in space for them to evaluate you?

---COURSE OVERVIEW---

Course Overview

You evaluate your supervisees — but who evaluates you? Seeking feedback on your own supervision isn't just good practice; it's an ethical responsibility. This on-demand training explores why gathering feedback on your supervisory work matters, how to invite supervisees to assess you in ways that feel natural rather than threatening, and what metasupervision is like. We also cover how to access it, whether you're brand new to supervision or highly experienced.

Course Description:
This training explores the often-overlooked obligation supervisors have to seek evaluation of their own work. We examine the ethical and professional rationale for supervision evaluation, explore a range of methods supervisees can use to assess the supervision they receive, and introduce metasupervision as a tool for professional growth. Considerations for both newer and seasoned supervisors are included. By the end of this training, participants will understand how to build feedback loops into their supervisory practice and access outside perspectives on their supervisory work.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recall ethical and professional reasons for supervision evaluation.
  • Incorporate evaluation of supervision into supervision plans and sessions.
  • Understand implications of and ways of carrying out metasupervision.
